The Redford Township District Library Board of Trustees is under a mandate by the community to promote knowledge, understanding, and wisdom.  Furthermore, the Board will attempt to combat ignorance, intolerance, and indifference by making available, in a free public library to every citizen of Redford, the best possible resources, personnel, and facilities required for modern library services in an efficient, cost effective, manner.  To that end the Trustees resolve that:

It is the mission of the Redford Township District Library to provide public library services to the community of Redford as a whole.  It will procure and make available to the general public quality materials and services, which fulfill the informational, cultural, recreational, and educational needs of the entire community in an atmosphere that is friendly, welcoming, respectful, and businesslike.

This mission Statement will serve as the basis for the policies, which follow.  The Redford District Library Board adopted all policies on December 5, 1994 and they are reviewed/revised annually.
